" I love color! My painting is an expression of the joy I experience in the process of applying paint to canvas. I combine recognizable subject matter and abstract shapes to create a composition that sings. "

Vibrant Impressions from Sharon Carr Studio

I discovered painting in mid life when age and grace allowed me to paint without caring (too much) about what others thought of my work. Painting brings me joy. My happiest moments are spent in the studio covered with paint.

I switched from watercolor to acrylic paint in order to get more texture into my work. I love experimenting with paint and am always working to create a lively vibration with the colors. My current mentor is William Turner who is a brilliant abstract colorist. In my work with William I am pushing my work to be less literal and more abstract while still having a discernable subject matter.

I am inspired by the works of the Fauves, especially Andre Derain, and Matisse, the bay area figurative artists, Richard Diebenkorn, and Elmer Bischoff, and the Society of Six California Landscape colorists especially Seldon Giles.

Gallery Row in Gig Harbor, Blue water Art Works in Poulsbo, Bainbridge Arts and Crafts in Winslow and at The State of the Arts Gallery in Olympia.

My work can be seen at Gallery Row in Gig Harborand at the Bainbridge Arts and Crafts in Winslow.

Enjoy the newest art and widest range of individual artist's original work providing the rare opportunity of seeing the artists in their studio environment and offering explanations and demonstrations of their materials and art process. This is also a unique time to purchase fine art directly from the artists.
