Artist, musician, contractor, business woman. Elizabeth Cox is a portrait of today's eclectic woman. Although her main love and talent has always been drawing and painting. Her creative muse has strected and grown to organizing the new Artists Studio at the Palos Verdes Art Center , that later expanded to the Palos Verdes Shopping Center.
Born and raised on the great plains of North Dakota. She began drawing at 2 years, watercolor painting by five, oil painting by 8 years of age. When she was ten years old she won first prizes in portrait and magazine cover in a national school competition for 10 to 18 year olds. She studied commercial art at San Diego State college. For the next 10 years she worked as a professional commercial and graphic designer in San Diego, California for the Areo Space Industry.
She spent most of her life in Manhattan Beach, California. Turned to fine art studying at Chouinard and Otic Art Institutes. Later studying with many famous artists and noted teachers., including Sergei Bngart, Joseph Mugnani, Don Putnam, Robert E. Wood and Paul Sousa, and many workshops with renowned artists. She won several national and local art awards. Her paintings were displayed in many galleries and are in private collections in this country, Europe, Mexico, Canada, and Japan.
Elizabeth has been a popular drawing and painting instructor in the South Bay area, Palos Verdes Art Center, her studio in Manhattan Beach, teaching studio and plein air workshops. Juried several art shows, belonged to art groups in Los Angeles and Pasadena, Palos Verdes, Santa Monica, Redondo Beach.and Torrance California.
