FAQ for Artists Screening & Participation in the Greater Gig Harbor Open Studio Tour

How do I apply?

This year we are going digital!  Your completed application form and participation agreement, and your images all need to be emailed to by February 9thPlease send all images and forms as attachments.

What are the digital requirements for submitting images?

Jpgs should be no larger than 1920 pixels on the longest side at 300 dpi, no bigger than 2MB, and saved as:

  • Last name_First name_title of work.jpg (e.g. Smith_Bob_Red Poppies.jpg) 
  • Make sure there is no visible frame or background in the photo of your work.  If necessary, have them professionally scanned or photographed and sized.
  • Submit as attachments to

What do I need to bring to screening?

You need to bring three gallery-ready pieces of your art for screening.  For wall art, the proper framing is very important.  Check to make sure the frames are clean and the wiring is secure.  If gallery wrapped canvases, make sure they are clean and finished.


Is there a jury fee? 


How much does it cost to participate? 

This year the annual dues will be $200 payable at the first general meeting or at the screening if you have been accepted (you will know if you have been accepted when you pick up your artwork).  Checks only, please.


Are there any other requirements? 

Just your time volunteering for a committee, which is required, and attendance at the general meetings and you are required to demonstrate your process during the Tour.

How do I know what committee I will be on?

You will know based on your interest or strengths.  Committee assignments are made at the first general membership meeting on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 (location and time TBD)


Does the Tour take a cut of sales? 

No! Sales are secondary to educating the public about our art and processes.  Open Studio Tour is a non-profit organization and is part of the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation.  We focus on education of the public and is a key part of the Tour mission which is why you are required to demonstrate your art process during the Tour. 

What are the dates/days of the Tour?

Always the third weekend in September.  For 2019 it will be Friday through Sunday, September 20 – 22, from 10am to 5pm.
